Last weekend I went to the opening of a new club in london, Matter at the O2 Arena. The place is amazing, three floors, vibrating dance floor, looked like a set from the matrix. About time they started replacing all the legendary clubs in London they have shut down in the last year, I believe now 5 in total. I still can't quite comprehend the amount they charge for the pleasure of going clubbing in this country. Firstly it cost me 22.95 to pre book my ticket, is it just me being old fashioned, or does that seem rather extortionate for just entrance into a nightclub?? Luckily getting there was completely free of charge, except for the 30p toilet stop at waterloo and we took at rather pleasant 40 minute boat cruise down the thames to the arena, not that I remember much of it. As it was the launch night with Carl Cox, the place was rammed. Full of the most bizarre species of people, a crowd of middle aged woman hogged the ladies toilet, though I'm sure they should have been in the mens! We arrived at 11.45pm and left at 8am, a long night of spending 7.50 on double spirits and fighting for an inch of space on the dance floor, but it was well worth it. Don't worry fabric, your still on top! I do like their current flyer, its pretty wacky!

Justice - D.A.N.C.E
Such an amazing video, in terms of graphics, an experimental mixture of illustration, animation and typography. This is the sort of thing I want to learn how to create! I need to become more competent in the digital design areas, something I'm determined to achieve by the end of this year.
Sophie Calle
Sophie Calle (born 1953) is a French writer, photographer, installation artist, and conceptual artist. Her work frequently depicts human vulnerability, and examines identity and intimacy. She is recognized for her detective-like ability to follow strangers and investigate their private lives. Her photographic work often includes panels of text of her own writing.
The Hotel (1981)
The Hotel (1981)
I can relate to Sophie Calle's work by the way she uses photography to document various experiences and concepts. In my practice I'm very keen on using photography to capture influential moments and visuals to store for future reference and development.
Jenny Holzer
Jenny Holzer is an American conceptual artist. The main focus of her work is the use of words and ideas in public space. She produces street posters, LED signs, plaques, benches, stickers and t-shirts.
Inflammatory Essays (1978-79)
Jenny uses provocative statements in most pieces of her work, combining rapturous writing with repetition and colour. Her style is very influential on my work, as I used a similar style in my final major project, where I combined controversial quotes with my own crude photography.

Terry Richardson
Terry Richardson, one of the most influential people in my life, he has such a vision to create imagery which is so rich with humor, simplicity and provocation. He so effortlessly captures the crude spirit of whatever appears before him.
